"I've traveled the world with the Reunion Blues Continental Voyager double bass case and it's the ONLY bag I'll trust my basses in! I've never had an issue when it came to protecting my basses! Thank You Reunion Blues!"
Justin Raines is a world renowned electric bassist and teacher. He is currently the bass player for six time Grammy award winning artist Israel Houghton and Grammy award winning pop star Ne-Yo. Justin plays and has played with Pastor William McDowell, Tasha Cobbs-Leonard, Donnie McClurkin, Musiq Souchild, JoJo, CeCe Winans, Karen Clark-Sheard, Kierra “KiKi” Sheard, Martha Munizzi and many other gospel/christian artists. Playing behind these different artists has given Justin the opportunity to travel to Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, all over Europe, Asia, South America, The Caribbean and all throughout the United States.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Justin started playing bass in the 10th grade. He attended the Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (aka CAPA). Being a multi-instrumentalist, Justin also plays trumpet, piano and drums. Growing up in Pittsburgh jump started the love for music and learning. Pittsburgh is where he learned the basic foundation of music. After high school he attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Justin’s career began to take off while at Berklee. Traveling and touring the world with his peers and artists that he looked up to.
Justin has an amazing testimony of healing. In the fall of 2007 his kidneys began to fail for no apparent reason. It was a long battle with his health in the public eye. Justin spent two years just doing tests with doctors, feeling like a guinea pig because there wasn’t a reason why his kidneys were failing. He spent four years on dialysis. There were a lot of encouraging and discouraging moments. But even through it all he was able to push through with the help from family, friends and his faith. In November of 2013 Justin was blessed with a new kidney via a kidney transplant. The kidney transplant changed his lifestyle for the better and gave him another chance. Healing is Justin’s testimony.
Having a heart for teaching, Justin and his wife started JRAINES LESSONS. There he teaches private bass guitar and synth bass lessons to students all over the world via Skype. Justin loves to educate and share all of his experiences and knowledge with anyone who wants to learn.
